Hi! My name is Dr. Yvonne Githiora. I am a researcher from Nairobi, Kenya, with a PhD in Climate Change and Adaptation from the University of Nairobi. I am trained in inter- and transdisciplinary research with a focus on conservation biology and climate change. I have worked in public policy, research, project management, and teaching fields for several years. I’m also a National Geographic Explorer, a 2021 Mawazo Learning Exchange Fellow, and a board member at Conscious Kenya, and I have published widely on climate change and ecosystems.

Reflecting on our journey as early-career researchers in Africa, we recognised unique challenges and opportunities for African researchers building research careers on the continent. These experiences led us to create a research-support group for postgraduate students, a platform that later became the Africa Research Hub. We aim to create a resource that supports African postgraduate students and researchers to advance research excellence and build careers on the continent.

Through our postgraduate research clinic, we do this by providing guidance, information, and resources to help you on your research journey. We also provide a platform for inter-generational mentorship and a peer learning support network for African researchers to share their experiences and expertise.
